Our biosimilars in oncology

Helping people to get back
to doing things they love

Cancer is a growing global health challenge, especially in emerging countries who bear the brunt of the majority of new cancer cases1.

By 2050, cancer diagnoses in India will increase by 90%, and in Latin America by 83% overall2. This compares with 49% in North America, and 25% in Europe2.

At Abbott, we work to bring access to innovative, life-changing treatments for the most common cancers, such as lung, breast, colorectal, prostate, and blood cancer, faster.

Our treatment options have helped many patients around the world to get back to doing the things they love – hear one of their stories:

Our approach to cancer care is holistic, encompassing different stages of the cancer journey, from diagnosis to treatment and nutritional support. Our aim is not only to expand treatment options, but also to help people get the care they need before, during and after their cancer diagnosis.

our expertise
  • Screening: We help eradicate cervical cancer with one of the few high-risk HPV tests approved for use as primary screening. As more women are vaccinated against the highest risk strains of the virus, it continues to be important to screen women for other HPV strains that have the potential to cause cancer.
  • Diagnosis: We are a pioneer and leader in cancer molecular diagnostics. Our state-of-the-art molecular diagnostic tests analyze tissue, blood, or fluid samples to identify signs of cancer. The results can be used to help plan treatment, predict the likelihood of cancer returning or spreading, and determine how well treatment is working.
  • Treatment: We deliver a range of biosimilar medicines for several of the highest burden cancers, such as lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and certain types of blood cancer (like non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma).
  • Care: We provide a range of nutritional supplements designed to meet the different needs of patients with cancer. For example, up to 70% of cancer patients experience loss of muscle mass3. We developed a nutritional supplement that improves strength, weight and nutritional status in patients with cancer.[i]

Since the early 2000s, we have been delivering safe and effective treatment options for cancer care. Learn more about our biologic’s heritage.
